The Program for ‘Quebec -selected skilled worker, is an applicant must apply in the following 2 stages: Apply for a Quebec Selection Certificate (Certificate de selection du Québec [CSQ]), to the Government of Quebec
Most of the applicants are under the impression that fluency in French is a requirement to immigrate to the province of Quebec, which is not actually true. Québec is a very unique province. It’s the only province in Canada with French as its official language. Applicant as single has to score 50 Points minimum and if applying as a couple of points need are 59
After applying for the CSQ and If the Province selects you and issues a CSQ, the applicant must then apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for permanent residence.
Quebec’s new Expression of Interest System came into effect on August 2, 2018, This was a part of the process in streamlining the QSWP applications. All applicants, interested in applying for immigration to the Quebec province will start the process by stating their interest by applying to the program by lodging their profile in the Quebec Expression of Interest Bank.
Quebec’s Arima portal
Quebec’s immigration ministry opened out a portal Called Arrima portal on September 18, 2018, they started accepting expressions of interest through this Arrima portal. All eligible applicants to the QSWP must first submit an expression of interest, there is no fee involved for completing a profile using the Arrima portal. The portal is open all year-round and applicants looking to immigrate to Quebec under the QSWP will be able to submit an expression of interest profile at any time.
Quebec selection parameters and eligibility criteria are designed to assess your social and professional profile along with your spouse’s as well if applicable, this helps the Quebec authorities determine your ability into blending into the Québec society labor market.
Selection factors and criteria considered are:
- Level of education and area of training.
- Professional work experience
- Knowledge of French and English
- Connection to Québec through family relationship being a Canadian citizen or a permanent Québec resident
- Holding an offer validated by the Minister of Quebec
- Attributes of your accompanying spouse or de facto spouse, if applicable
- Factors including the number of children under the age of 22 who will be accompanying you to Québec
Your financial status and having self-sufficiency undertaking to provide for your needs and your family’s needs for at least the first three months following your arrival in Québec.
